Lisa & Robert Earp Around March of 2002, I became ill and felt as though I may have had the flu. My body ached, and I had severe headaches and unbearable fatigue.

I went to a Physician's Assistant (PA) initially as my new General Practitioner (GP) was unavailable. The PA felt that I was suffering with a uterine cyst and that it would dissolve on its own. The pain (all-over body pain) became more intense with increasing nausea.

The PA suggested that I contact my gynecologist as she felt that this was a gynecological issue. I contacted my gynecologist, who felt that I had either contracted a bacterial infection or that I was suffering from the endometriosis with which I had recently been diagnosed. I was placed on antibiotics, which did not help. The gynecologist suggested that the endometriosis be treated with the use ofa drug that I was unsure of, so I sought a second opinion. The next gynecologist felt as though I might have fibromyalgia, but was unsusre. I was referrd to a urologist and a gastroenterologist. All tests were negative.

During this time, I started having burning and tingling sensations up and down my arms and legs. It was as if someone were running a match all over my body. I began having excrutiating back and neck pain, joint pain in my knees and hands, my neck started trembling uncontrollable and I was so weak that at times I was unable to walk. I felt as though something was pulling the life out of me. I felt that I was dying.

I remember praying almost every minute of the day, asking the Lord to lay his hands on me and heal me. What was happening to me? And why were all of these doctors giving me the run-around? Before this illness, I was a happy, healthy 33-year-old working mother of two children. Now, I was unable to work and I worried constantly for the future of our family. On one particular weekend my husband became extremely worried, as I was unable to walk at all. My legs felt like Jell-o and I could not hold my body up. He took me to the emergency room in Greenville (North Carolina). After a night in the ER and every test known to man, they sent me home with questions still unanswered. The next day, I told my husband that I was too tired to pray anymore and that God must be ready to take me. This was on a Sunday in May.

That Monday, I saw a GP whom I had not seen before. This doctor actually listened to what I had to say, and concluded that I had Lyme Disease. Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium that is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected deer tick. I was put on an antibiotic, Celebrex, Skelaxen and many more drugs. I was on doxycycline for several months, which gave me yeast infections; in turn, the medication for the yeast infections caused nausea. I then had to have medication to treat the nausea. You know the drill. I felt the rest of the year was an uphill battle, but I was slowly going up. I began to improve after a couple of weeks on the antibiotic. The disease shot my immune system so that I also battled two bouts of shingles and one bout of pneumonia, which required hospitalization. By the end of the year, I had my strength back but was left with arthritis in my hands and knees.

Lyme disease is known to leave you with crippling arthritis that you may have to deal with for the rest of your life. I began to try to live my life with this pain. No matter where I was or what I was doing, this pain was the center of my life. At this time I was taking approximately ten prescription drugs.

Around January of this year, Ed Fulford introduced my husband to HTN's Coral Calcium. Rob encouraged me to take the calcium, but I was skeptical. I guess I wanted to continue to take all of the prescription drugs.

I finally agreed to try the product and within a couple of weeks I stared having hours at a time where I was pain-free. The hours turned into whole afternoon, the afternoons turned into days, and in about six weeks I was PAIN FREE. I started getting off the prescription drugs one at a time and I started enjoying my life again. I especially began to enjoy my children.

For so long, my mother and my husband did almost everything for the kids while at the same time taking care of me. My life now is no longer defined by pain.
